Meet Gerald the Giraffe– our brand new pattern! As I designed this guy I wanted to make a pattern that worked as a great gift option. I thought for a bit what patterns I turn to for gift ideas and decided to apply some of my favorite pattern qualities:
- First off, he had to be big enough to work as a stand alone gift
- There had to be made with minimal hand sewing so he could be made up quickly
- And last of all, if he could be made with a small enough amount of material that you won’t have to break the bank to gift him away.
I’m hoping this guy follows all three rules. He’s about a foot tall, so he’s substantial enough to stand alone at a party gift table. Even at that size, he’s made with just a fat quarter (18″ x 22″ of fabric) of the main fabric. And the only hand sewing is to close him up after you turn him right side out. WOOT!
I’m hoping this guy gives you tons of great gift options this holiday season for boys and girls alike!
