I work with the 8-12 year old girls at my church twice a week at Activity Days. It’s seriously so much fun. The girls are at that perfect age where everything is fun, even if it’s just a game I made up right then and there! We meet during the week, so our meetings get to be a little more fun and exciting than the girls’ Sunday school classes, but we still have a list of things the girls need to pass off- kind of like a religious version of Girl Scouts. One of the things they need to do is memorize the 13 Articles of Faith, statements that sum up our LDS beliefs. If you’ve ever read them you’ll know that this is no small task for a 10 year old!
Yesterday we worked on learning a couple more. I made up some games, we used some songs, but my favorite thing of the day was the punch cards I made. Each girl got all card and all during our activity, if any of the girls wanted to go try to pass off one of the Articles of Faith we were learning, they just took their card over to my co-leader and recited what they knew. If they got it right, they got a punch. It was amazing what those girls would do to get another punch! At the end of the activity we had them hand in their cards so we could mark down all their punches in our binder. They worked so well I think we’ll keep them around for the next Articles of Faith Activity!
If you happen to have some kids in your life who are learning the Articles of Faith, please go ahead and use my card design! Click here to download them.
