This is how it started-
PINK countertops?! Seriously?! (I don’t know if the true pinkness is shining through in this photo) I mean, I don’t care how trendy a color is- when you’re picking out items in your home that will last for more than 5 years, don’t pick the trendy color. Period.
-Ok, stepping off my soap box now.-
Doug and I are in the middle of a kitchen remodel, and I suppose living with our major and minor kitchen appliances piled in the dining room is starting to get to me.
Or is it the fact that both of our sinks are currently wrapped up and our only source of water is from the tub?
Hmmm…. I can’t quite decide.
We finally decided to take the Kitchen Re-Do Plunge when we saw the Rust-Oleum Countertop Transformations Kit. We’d been looking for a way to get rid of that blasted PINK for years- but replacing them with the cheapest laminate counter tops we could find was still going to be around $800. And after all that money we’d still have the out dated oak cabinets and the white tile that crunched when we walked because it hasn’t been attached to the subflooring for years now. But the Countertop Transformation. With that we could redo the counters for $200. We couldn’t resist.
And then flooring went on sale at Costco. And we couldn’t resist.
And then we thought of our beautiful floors and new counter tops next to our old oak cabinets and we thought- why not!? And we got the Cabinet Transformation kit too. Because we’re crazy.
And here we are.
So far we’re liking the Rust-Oleum kits. Surprisingly I think we like the countertop kit more than the cabinet kit (everyone said the countertops were too hard… but I think they’re totally wrong!) but I’m going save the exact review until we’re done with all the steps. Just in case I missed the fact that the last step takes a million hours to do (sometimes that happens- you just never know!). But as of now, I think we’re liking them!
Oh, and added bonus- we had enough countertop material left over to redo our Powder Blue bathroom counter too! Take that 1990’s Interior Designers!
Are you excited to see what our kitchen looks like in a couple days from now? I know I sure am!
