Just found out that my quilt won an award at the Stories in Stitches quilt show! This is the first time I’ve ever had a ribbon next to my work. (mine was for Best Original Design) It was pretty exciting!
I love the idea of this show. Each quilt is submitted with the story behind its design. I love to walk around and read what inspired so many people to put hundreds of hours of love into a quilt. To be honest, I think every art/craft show should take note. People don’t just get inspired over nothing, after all. I think the story behind a piece of art work makes the craftsmanship that much more appreciated. And to be honest, a piece with a great story and poor craftsmanship will get my vote any day over a perfectly created piece with no emotion behind it.
The show will be up for viewing at the Orem, UT public library until July 10. (which is why my quilt is hung behind to a check out desk!) If you’re nearby, you should take a minute and check it out!
