Let’s talk about how to sew a miniature Christmas stocking!
Everything is more adorable in miniature, and Christmas is certainly no exception. When I was planning my Mini Elf Family House, I knew there would have to be miniature stockings to fill with miniature items.
As I made the pattern for these miniature Christmas stockings, I wanted them to be small enough to work with our miniature elves and mini animal families, but big enough to actually fit things into.
I knew my kid would love looking inside these to find little items. But I was absolutely tickled pink when he sat and played with just to stockings for over an hour last night. We found everything in the house that could possibly fit into these- mini erasers, pieces of candy, marbles, a random bit of wood from the garage. Everything was exciting. Everything was magical. Here I was thinking I’d need to find some special mini toys. But kids always have a better plan, don’t they?
Let’s talk Project Specfiics
As far as sewing these up, it’s really quite simple. What I love about this technique is it’s just 6 pieces (5 seams!) and you get a fully lined, mini stocking. You can use just about any type of fabric, though you’ll want to make sure it’s not too thick since these little guys can get a little too bulky pretty fast. I’ve made them with everything from quilting cotton to knit lace. So much fun, a really easy to do.
I’ve included the pattern for this mini Christmas stocking in the Holiday Pattern Combo. The combo includes the Stocking, a Santa Hat, two aprons and a sheet of cookies. All sized for our Mini Family sets. It could also easily be sized up and down if you’d like to fit it to a different sized toy.
