I had so much fun dressing up our Sweetbriar Sisters softies for their Halloween photo shoot this year. I mean, what’s more adorable than a penguin dressed up as a ghost?! And once they were all dressed up, I couldn’t bear to put them away. So I didn’t 🙂 They’re on all display around my house right now and I smile every time I walk by. 🙂
Whether it be a toy you made from one of our patterns or a softie who is near and dear to someone in your home, dressing these guys for Halloween is a super easy activity with adorable results. It’d be a great way to occupy kids on a rainy October afternoon. Here’s what we did for ours:
We dressed up these witches with Mini Witch Hat Hair Clips (like these) and used a Halloween pet collar (like this one)
for the ‘cape’. We held both in place with safety pins which are hidden under the objects. (remember that safety pins are a chocking hazard, so please only use them for older children!)
Our ghost was made with some semi-transparent white fabric (I think it’s cute to see the penguin through the fabric, but you could definitely use opaque fabric too). We cut a circle large enough to drape down to the penguin’s toes, and then cut two small eye holes. To keep it in place, I safety pinned it to the back of the penguin’s head. That’s it!
Our mummies were wrapped with cheesecloth
cut into about 1″ wide strips. No pins or sewing here, I just wrapped the strips around and tucked the ends into the previous layers.
