I don’t know about you, but I constantly find myself in the middle of running an errand only to look down and realize I’ve been walking around town covered in thread and fabric scraps. Plus I have this habit of sticking pins in the fabric of my pant legs to keep them handy while I sew. Which works great… when I’m in my sewing room. But it’s kind of a weird fashion statement when I forget they’re there and wear them all day.
A couple months ago one of my Instagram followers mentioned she keeps an apron in her sewing room to wear while she sews. Why had I never thought of that?! I knew just the one I’d use- I made this apron a couple years back with my mom and sister. It’s adorable, but it took long enough to make that I never want to wear it when I’m cooking- I’d just rather spill spaghetti sauce on my jeans! So into the sewing room it went and I have loved having it there ever since. It keeps the thread off me (well, most of it anyway) and gives me a place to stick my pins while I sew. I think I might go in and add a pocket so I can keep the tools I’m working with handy during a project.
It’s so nice- I can’t believe I didn’t think of it before! I just thought I’d share in case you hadn’t either. I mean, who wouldn’t love an excuse to own another adorable apron, right?!
