Color Study in Oil: 5 Against 1

January 25, 2013

5 against 1 color scheme 5

And, finally, the last of my color study paintings!  This one is a color scheme I just learned about, 5 against 1.Basically, you take a group of analogous colors, and then add the compliment of the middle color (so, the color in the middle of my analogous set was red.  The compliment to red is green so I added that to my palette.)

Here I am blocking in the fun colors (I loved this painting! )5 against 1 color scheme 2

I really tried to use color as value on this one.  I had a lot of fun making the fabric go from purple to orange to show light!
